Prof Leong suggested that for the section on project scope we list down some of the sub goals of the project. In general the scope of the project refers to the sub problems we will answer in our attempt to achieve the aim.

For the section on project risks, Prof Leong said that the main types of risks are: availability of resources, domain knowledge, project data.

The project plan is to be completed by next week.

For the presentation, Prof Leong asked us to prepare a two level outline for each of the talks. The first level lists the major topics that will be covered and in the second level list out the individual slides that will be used that that topic. I will work with Hoang on the first talk on computation of genomic distance.

Prof Leong suggested some tips in doing research for the project

• Add extra blank pages when printing a paper to add personal notes
• Collaborate with Hoang with regards to similar areas in the project
• Study a simpler problem first, for example look at just 3 genomes
